De Fontein Fiction and Thrillers

De Fontein is one of the most prestigious publishing houses in the Netherlands with a reputation for high quality. Jojo Moyes, R.J. Ellory, Clare Mackintosh, Jane Fallon and Karen Rose are just some of the noteworthy authors we publish in translation.

We mainly publish translated works, and only have a limited number of Dutch authors on our list. Some well-known names among those are the late A.C. Baantjer, crime journalist Peter R. de Vries and writer/actor Peter Römer. Should you like more information on translation rights for any of our Dutch authors, please contact us.

De Fontein Children’s and Young Adult Books

At present De Fontein is the number one publishing house in children’s publishing in the Netherlands. Moreover, it is one of the most prestigious publishing houses with a reputation for high quality. A deep-rooted commitment to the best of publishing is reflected in the quality of our releases. With an affinity for innovation and a touch of the rebellious, we publish books for young people ranging in age from newborn to teenager: picture books, novelty and gift books, fiction and non-fiction, graphic novels, adventurous and humorous titles – both popular and literary works. In short, the entire gamut of children’s and young adult books.

Quentin Blake, Roald Dahl, Jonny Duddle, Mark Haddon, Jeff Kinney and Rachel Renée Russell are just some of the noteworthy authors we publish in translation.

In our catalogue you will find outstanding new titles by leading Dutch writers. Our most acclaimed authors are Marion van de Coolwijk, Jozua Douglas, Marcel van Driel, Peter van Gestel, Koos Meinderts, Loes Riphagen, Niki Smit, Mel Wallis de Vries and last but not least Bette Westera.

Whom to contact for questions regarding Foreign Rights

As you may already know, the Dutch Foundation for Literature exists to promote interest in Dutch-language books abroad. Foreign publishers wishing to publish translations of Dutch children’s and young adult literature are encouraged to apply for a grant towards the translation costs (www.letterenfonds.nl).

We hope that you will be as enthusiastic about our titles as we are and that you will discover interesting new titles for your list. Should you like more information on translation rights for any of our Dutch authors, please contact us.
